About

I am married to the love of my life, Casey, renovating a DC rowhouse circa 1907 one room at a time, learning to cook one recipe at a time and taking pictures one day at a time. I blog mostly about food but throw in some renovations and photography posts along the way.

The Beginning
I started this blog as a way to chronicle my forays in learning to cook in our tiny apartment kitchen. My specialties were frozen raviolis with canned tomato sauce and tacos. I desperately needed to branch out past my comfort zone and actually learn how to cook a decent meal.

This blog was born a few months after Casey and I got married in 2008 and the name C+C Marriage Factory was concocted by my best friend during the wedding planning frenzy. I guess it kinda stuck.

Renovations
At the end of 2008, we purchased a house that needed updates from top to bottom, inside and out. Our first major renovation was our kitchen which is now a gorgeous and inspiring place to cook. We have been slowly tackling the rest room by room and learning much about DIY renovations along the way. Check out our most recent basement transformation.

Cooking
I have found a love for cooking (and baking!) and consistently broaden my horizons by trying new dishes. I have a major love for cilantro, hummus, cheese, spicy dishes, the crock pot, pies, pies and more pies. I try to eat healthy, non-processed foods, but do have a little fun every now again by breaking the calorie bank.

Photography
I received my first DSLR from Casey at the end of 2009 and have been teaching myself the photography basics ever since. My steadfast subjects are our three dogs, Gunny, Matilda, and Bella. I am shooting with a Nikon D5000 and the Nikkor lenses 18-55mm VR, 55-200mm, 35mm f/1.8, and 50mm f/1.4 as well as a Tamron wide angle zoom 10-24mm and a Nikon Speedlight SB 700.

I invite you to join me for many delicious recipes, with a focus on low calorie meals, and follow along with our renovation adventures. I hope that my cooking and photography skills continue to grow along with my little blog.

If you'd like to chat, please email me here or leave me a comment!

Thanks for stopping by my little slice of the interwebs.

You're impressively accomplished at this stuff--blogging, photography, sophisticated cooking, renovating--if you're really as relatively new to it all as you claim! I don't doubt you can teach this old dog some new tricks!
