I have been eyeing this lens for quite some time and Casey got it for me for my birthday! It's a 50mm f/1.4 which is a great lens for low light, portraits, and creating a shallow depth of field giving wonderful blurred backgrounds and bokeh. I was so excited to play around with it. My best friend, Amanda, had sent me flowers to work in honor of my birthday so I brought them home to practice taking pictures on.

Very cool! How did you get the last picture to be an all-black background?
Thanks! It was on my kitchen counter and the only light on the bouquet was streaming in from the window so the background was all black. I upped the shadows a bit in picasa so the flecks in the countertop went away. I need photoshop!
ooh sexy lens, i like it.
i have a nikon as well - only one lens for now... i would LOVE LOVE LOVE a wide angle lens for helping to really capture interior spaces.
and yes, photoshop is a must!
